About Us

In October 2008, a few Unity friends got together in Austin to discuss the need for a downtown Austin Unity study group that met monthly. Soon our founding members were joined by several like-minded people and were meeting twice a month. Within 6 months we were holding meetings in the American Legion Hall downtown and soon we were meeting weekly. We petitioned Unity Worldwide Ministries and with the help of two retired Unity ministers in Austin became an official Unity church.

In 2012 we hired Rev. Tony Roebuck as our minister and in late 2013 we leased an office space that would become our first church home on South I-35 about a mile south of the river. In 2019 we relocated to the beautiful grounds of Casa de Luz just off S. Lamar on Toomey Street. In the fall of 2021 Tony retired so he and his wife Julie can spend time with their children and grandchildren. We miss him and bless his path going forward.

Today, we have returned to our roots, like back in 2008, by having a rotation of great new thought speakers. Many are Licensed Unity Teachers, former Unity Ministers, or ministerial students from surrounding churches.

Disagreeing in Love

Our board of trustees are amazing people.  They have signed a covenant to agree and disagree in love. This covenant reminds them of who they really are and how they should respect and support each other even when they don’t agree. You can read this covenant by clicking here.

A Commitment to Transparency

Our trustees usually meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 5:00 PM to make decisions that guide the operation and development of Unity in the Heart of Austin. Members who regularly attend the Sunday meetings are welcome to attend the trustees’ meeting as observers. It is the trustees’ desire to have complete transparency with the congregation.

Bylaws

Got An Idea?

When the Board of Trustees gathers we ask each to say what is going well and what could go even better. Now is your chance to contribute your ideas on what could go even better. Just click the Idea Box and fill in the form. Your idea will be emailed directly to the President of the Board of Trustees.

Trustees’ Documents

This is a link to a web page requiring a secure ID and password. It contains the church’s legal documents, Unity Worldwide Ministries branding documents and images, minutes from meetings and more. The purpose of this page is to be a handy library for our Board of Trustees members. Most of the information is also available for inspection at church including board meeting minutes and financial reports. They are on a table in the sanctuary each week during services. Literally, our records are an open book. This information is available, upon request, and can be reviewed by members
