Welcome
Unity in the Heart of Austin is one of 800 churches worldwide. We have inspiring ministers and are involved in the church community, social action, and social activities. We believe in making a positive and powerful difference in Austin, TX and in the world. And, we like to have fun while we do it. We are more spiritual than religious and we embrace practices like yoga, reiki, and meditation. We like to say we are “Spiritually Adventuresome.”
Location
We hold our Sunday Services in the Alma room of Casa de Luz Village at 1701 Toomey Road, just off S Lamar near Zach Scott Theater. There’s plenty of parking just across the street at the ballparks on Butler Shores. Just click here for a Google Map to get directions from anywhere.
Sunday Service
Our Sunday service starts at 10:30 am The service is usually about an hour and 15 minutes long. Dress is “Austin casual.”
What to Expect
We are friendly and often greet each other with a hug. If that’s a bit much for you just extend your hand. We start with some good upbeat music and a few announcements. Then our speaker for that Sunday gives a lesson with ideas that you can apply in your daily life. You can get a preview of what that’s like by watching one of the over 200 Sunday talks on our YouTube channel.

Unity’s Basic Beliefs
Our beliefs can be summed up in Unity’s Five Principles:
- God is the source and creator of all. There is no other enduring power. God is good and present everywhere.
- We are spiritual beings, created in God’s image. The spirit of God lives within each person; therefore, all people are inherently good.
- We create our life experiences through our way of thinking.
- There is power in prayer, which we believe increases our connection to God.
- Knowledge of these spiritual principles is not enough. We must live them.
We Believe in Prayer
We believe in deepening our connection with God through prayer and meditation; and that prayer really works. Unity started as a prayer group for all denominations and evolved into a church. So prayer is important to us, as is welcoming others from all spiritual backgrounds.
If you need prayer, call 800-699-7729 (800-NOW-PRAY) any time of day or night to speak with the prayer support at Silent Unity. Silent Unity has been assisting people with prayer for over 125 years. They’re always there to help you.

Let’s Stay Connected
In addition to social media, we stay connected with our weekly newsletter email with a list of events, the topic for the Sunday talk, and more. If you’d like to subscribe click here. You can unsubscribe at any time by using the link at the bottom of the newsletter.
Jesus and the Bible
We believe Jesus is the master teacher of universal truths and our Way Shower. We believe that Jesus fulfilled his divine potential and sought to show humankind how to fulfill theirs too.
In Unity, we use “the Christ” differently than many churches. To us, “the Christ” is the Divine, fulfilled or expressed in humankind. Jesus is the perfect example of the Christ expressed. This gives new meaning to the term “Jesus the Christ.”
And, when we say or sing “we behold the Christ in you,” we mean we see the expression of the Divine within you.
The Good in Humanity
We are individual, eternal expressions of God. Our essential nature is Divine and therefore inherently good. Our purpose is to express our divine potential as realized and demonstrated by Jesus and other inspired teachers. The more we awaken to our Divine nature, the more fully God expresses in and through our lives.
Unity’s Statement for Peace
Unity stands for Peace in the presence of conflict; for Love in the presence of hatred; for Forgiveness in the presence of injury. Unity honors the many names for God, the many paths to God, the many ways to worship God. For there is only one power and presence of God; and that God loves us all equally.
